J. Cole – Get Free (Major Lazer Remix) (Prod. by Diplo)

J. Cole
J. Cole drops a new song today. It is a redone version of Major Lazers’ song of the same name “Get Free”. The track was produced by Diplo. Very tribal feel to this song, as is much of Major Lazers’ music. As usual, Cole delivers some witty and philosophical lines.

Mikkey Halsted just dropped his mixtape “MMM Season”. Relatively new to the scene, Mikkey is quickly turning over many listeners as they all climb aboard this run-a-way freight train of an MC. He’s got hard lyrics, the flow to go with it and certainly the attitude. Be sure to check out this mixtape with features from Twista, Tia London + Elijah Blake to name a few. Also, definitely check out track number 2 – Money Making Mikkey, which is also the official Tune Of The Week.

The Right Script – Interview with Audible Doctor

The Right Script – Interview with Audible Doctor
Audible Doctor
Super producer, rapper and DJ – Audible Doctor
Audible Doctor is quite a rare talent. Although known for his organic and smooth instrumentals, he is also an accomplished rapper and DJ as well. Appearing on many of his own singles, including “Success Part 1” featuring Chaundon, Audible Doctor is showing why he deserves his spot in the music industry. He recently released his FREE EP, entitled “I Think That…” which features brand new production from Audible Doctor and guest features from rappers such as Soul Khan, Chuuwee, Von Pea, Blacastan and many more.

Well known for his musical abilities, he has produced tracks for Consequence, John Legend and Joell Ortiz to name a few. After listening to one of Audible Doctors’ tracks, you will begin to hear why he is quickly becoming one of the hottest producers in the game. His beats are crisp, yet still retain a classic, old school vibe to them. He also stays true to sample’s that he uses, as each instrumental draws the listener back to its’ original inspiration. It’s kind of like squeezing an orange, extracting the orange flavor and then refocusing that flavor into something entirely different. However, the original hint of orange and the roughness from the peel always remain present.
Keep reading for the interview as we discuss his origins, production techniques, his musical background, where his inspiration comes from and what is coming in the future. Be sure to check out his latest EP “I Think That…” and show some love.

DEEzo – Apollo Creed

DEEzo – Apollo CreedYou gotta check out this dope track from one of the hottest up and coming rap stars, Deezo. I recently had the pleasure of interview Deezo in person back in NYC and I can’t say enough about this young, talented artist. This song keeps it old school with the flow, but that beat adds a certain new age feel to it. Definitely poppin. Check it out. This is the first set of visuals off of the upcoming Ten10Eighty7 due out fall 2012.

“With the highly anticipated sophomore album “A Dream Deferred” set for a 10/2 release date, we present to you the new single “Give It Up” (feat. DJ Prince), produced by !llmind (Kanye West, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Scarface). The single, which mashes vintage dirty hip hop drums and 808s with dubstep grime, is a staple of !llmind’s new signature “boom-trap” sound, which can most recently be found via his production on “The Morning” by Kanye West & G.O.O.D. Music off of the Cruel Summer album. Topped with Sky’s signature “slick talk” lyricism, the song is a subwoofer’s dream come true. “Quotables is Andre (3000)/ wrote about the hallway, flow is in & out/ and if they speaking on my sneakers then they foaming at the mouth/say I did it for the borough, how we looking, how we looking/ aint no dancing in that kitchen, if they cooking then they COOKING!” -Skyzoo

The Evolution of Technology Music – Interview with Entertainment Lawyer Steve Gordon

The Evolution of Technology Music – Interview with Entertainment Lawyer Steve Gordon
By Jason Pollak
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing entertainment lawyer Steve Gordon. He has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer in the entertainment field and currently runs and operates his own high profile law firm in NYC. However, no success story is complete without humble beginnings. While still in law school, at NYU, Mr. Gordon battled high profile cases that dealt with the right of privacy versus the first amendment, later co-wrote a book on entertainment law, battled on behalf of gay rights and also worked for the famous Dino De Laurentiis in Hollywood. That sounds like a great career for some people, however, that barely scratches the surface of Mr. Gordon’s illustrious career.
After paying his dues at these firms, Mr. Gordon went on to work for SESAC, which is now one of the biggest performing rights firms in the world. From there he went on to represent Atlantic-Elektra records, which eventually opened the doors to a dream job at Sony Records where he was Director of Business Affairs. During this time, Tommy Mottola and Sony was at it’s peak. They were moving millions of copies of Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Pearl Jam records. Business was booming. However, due to the new age of technology, the dream ride took a right at the fork in the road. Not to be deterred, Mr. Gordon developed a keen sense of music and technology, which allowed him to continue his passion of law and music. Without even a hiccup, Mr. Gordon went on to start his own successful entertainment firm where he is now his own boss.
With a unique love for music and the natural ability to adapt to an ever changing world, Mr. Gordon now deals with companies such as MTV, Time Life Films, Soul Train Holdings and other big name music labels. He currently specializes in, but is not limited to, music licensing, music clearance, television production and negotiating artist contracts. His masterful understanding of music, business and technology has even led him to author his own book “The Future of the Music Business”.
Be sure to read the interview below as we discuss his career from beginning to end. From Supreme Court to Sony Records to Steve Jobs, Mr. Gordon’s tale is one of fancy and fact. If you ever wondered where the music world is heading in the next 10 years and what in fact goes on behind the big closed doors at record labels, now is your chance to find out!
Keep reading for the full interview after the jump.

12 Year Old Writes Letter to Mitt Romney – Calls Him Contradicting

12 Year Old Writes Letter to Mitt Romney – Calls Him ContradictingJackson Ripley Mitt Romney
Can’t wait until Fox newscasters try to rip into a 12 year old. You think Bill O’Reilly might take some shots at a child as well? I hope so, otherwise they would fail to meet up to their journalistic standards which resemble that of an 11 year old. So in some ways, this letter written by 12 year old Jackson Ripley would be too mature for Fox to handle.
This one letter, pretty much tells the story about the Romney campaign and why he will never win over hearts in America unless they are freeze chilled to -45 degrees Fahrenheit. Jackson Ripley, we all commend and thank you. Just read below to discover the simple and basic underlying reasons as to why Romney will never be elected. For one, Ripley points out that he contradicted himself about healthcare on two different national t.v. shows.
I can and probably will never understand why presidential candidates can flip-flop as much as this, but can get away with it live another day. Read the letter after the jump.

Judge Dredd Featurette – Look Inside Weapons, Motorcycle More!Judge Dredd
Judge Dredd is set to hit U.S. theaters soon and it looks absolutely incredible. I think they really tried to keep it on the darker side, which would definitely add to the mystique that is Judge Dredd. Take a special look inside the movie as the crew takes us behind the scenes and gives us a glimpse inside creating the iconic Dredd gun and motorcycle. The fact that the movie is in 3-D, should add to the already stunning outfits and cinematography. If you haven’t seen a trailer yet, you can do so here.

Lil Wayne
The Game’s “Celebration” track featuring Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Tyga and Chris Brown came out a few weeks ago. Yesterday we finally got the video. This is definitely one of the better collaborations I’ve heard come from the mainstream in a while. They are all on their A game and all deliver some solid verses. Nice laid back track that makes you want to be in California right this moment. Video was shot at Belvedere Skatepark.

Rick Ross and Nigeria went absolutely H.A.M. in this video remix of “Hold Me Back”. Watch as Rick Ross takes a trip through the war wounded sections of Nigeria as everyone comes out to party. If you thought New Orleans looked run down in the original video, you should really take a look at Nigeria. There ain’t nothing but slums and people living in tents. Thank you Rick Ross for being socially conscious and shedding some light on their situation. Gotta say, it’s like Ghandi came through Africa when Rick Ross rolled through in his Escalade. Absolutely crazy.

Travis Barker Feat. Yelawolf- Push Em

Travis Barker Feat. Yelawolf- Push Em
This is just pure awesomeness. Travis Barker and Yelawolf team up on this track called “Push Em”. It’s a mix of hip-hop, rock and maybe even a little dubstep influence in there. This one will definitely get em’ goin in the mosh pits. Glad we can still count on Travis Barker after all these years to deliver something dope and different. His drumming on this song is impeccable. There aren’t many rappers that could keep up with that cadence, but as you will hear, Yelawolf has no problem doin it. This is the first song off their 5 song EP, “Psycho White”. Check out the song after the jump.

Check out this sick new track, “Fizzyology”, from Lil Fame Feat. Termanology produced by The Alchemist. This is off Lil Fame and Termanologys’ joint album of the same name as this track. Termanology spits first and this kid is on another level. I’m not sure there are many MC’s with the vocabulary, flow and energy that this kid has got. The first verse is a rapid fire, mind boggling rhyme frenzy as he absolutely shuts it down. An MC somewhere just pissed themselves. After that, Lil Fame keeps it G and holds down this dope track. Oh yea, did I mention this was produced by The Alchemist? Oh I did…so why aren’t you listenin already? Track after the jump. Follow these awesome people-

They shot at buildings and threw handmade bombs into the compound.
Protesters also attacked the US embassy in Cairo over the film.
In a statement, President Obama condemned the “outrageous attack” on the facility in Benghazi.

Joe Budden Goes in on Slaughterhouse Fans

Joe Budden
Slaughterhouse’s Joe Budden
To say Joe Budden has a short fuse would be a compliment. He has no fuse. He just goes from 0-100 in one second. That’s what happened in this interview when Eleven8 from Baller Alert asked good ol’ Joey about the recent complaints from fans that Welcome to Our House is too commercial, but enjoyed the mixtape. He turned it into some metaphor about having two toilets at home and not giving two shits. He also told fans to make a “collage” of the songs they like from the mixtape and album in order to create their own album. I guess it was only a matter of time before we got this type of reaction from Joe Budden, because I feel like the group is asked this same question day in and day out. That could get kind of annoying. Interview after the jump.

The official video for “JanSport Strings”, the Lead single off Skyzoo’s upcoming album ‘A Dream Deferred’ out Oct. 2nd on The Faculty/Duck Down Music Inc.
Skyzoo describes the video and the song in his own words. “The video, directed by Anthony Sylvester, was shot throughout Bed Stuy, Brooklyn NY. The theme was to show the parallels between me as a 9-year old aspiring emcee and me now as an accomplished emcee and artist, and how the things around me that groomed me haven’t changed. The song is a 3-minute auto-bio of me as a kid in Brooklyn. The ending is a clip from Video Music Box, the legendary NYC video show run by DJ Ralph McDaniels. This episode in particular was the debut of Chi-Ali’s ‘Age Ain’t Nothin But A Number’. Seeing that video that day on this episode of VMB made me start rhyming. This clip was literally the moment that changed my life. And the Chi-Ali tee shirt is pretty amazing. They’ll be on sale soon. Enjoy…”

Mixtape Review: Twista “Reloaded”

Twista
By Jason Pollak
After a bit of silence in the mainstream rap world, Twista is back at it again with his Don Cannon hosted mixtape, “Reloaded”. He definitely didn’t disappoint as he dropped a ton of new material to hold us over until his album “The Dark Horse” hits stores. In total there are 15 tracks on the mixtape, mostly original with some remixes. If you were wondering if Twista had lost any of his lyrical abilities, this mixtape should be very reassuring in the fact that he hasn’t lost a step.

Is she endorsing cows by eating chicken as well?
By Jason Pollak
I think everyone needs to chill out a bit with this recent Nicki Minaj line dealing with Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney on Lil Wayne’s Dedication 4.
The line goes:
“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney…You bitches fuckin up the economy.”
I feel like this like is being taken a bit too literally. It’s just a rap line. A clever twist on the failing economy and an insult to her poorer, Femcee enemies.
