Hello all,
We are in dire need of help. My beautiful, smart, sweet, 8-year old Matteo has been suddenly struck with a terrible illness, diabetic ketoacidosis, which is a fatal complication from diabetes. One of the many horrible effects of this disease is severe dehydration and dangerously low blood pressure. He is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at a wonderful facility in Brooklyn where he needs to remain until all of his vital signs are regulated and the dehydration is fixed. Our only wish is that Matteo becomes stabilized and hydrated enough so that we may take him home and begin our journey and learning experience of living with a newly diagnosed diabetic cat. But the greatest hurdle right now is getting him the care he needs which unfortunately, is very expensive.
Up until just a week ago, he was a healthy, active, loving young cat. Everyone that knows us also knows of Matteo as well. Upon walking into our house you are immediately greeted by Matteo, who people often compare to a dog more so than a cat because of his extremely friendly nature. He has two beautiful siblings (Teresa & Lorenzo) who dearly miss him and need him to come home.
